The ear
Earliest known Janus figure was engraved at the top of Gorham’s Etching, Gorham’s Cave, Gibraltar. One head is bald and bearded with the clear characteristics of Homo sapiens. The identity of the opposite facing character – Man-X – is uncertain.

The original Gallery of Discs image in the El Castillo Cave was taken by the esteemed Spanish photographer Pedro Saura.
